As part of its NAIDOC Week celebrations, Lightspeed proudly partnered with Aboriginal Incursions to deliver an inspiring Cultural Awareness Program and Paint Your Own Boomerang workshop, providing employees with a meaningful opportunity to connect with the world’s oldest continuing living culture.
The Cultural Awareness Program encouraged participants to explore the rich history, traditions, and ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through authentic storytelling, discussions, and cultural knowledge sharing, employees gained a deeper understanding of the significance of Country, the importance of cultural protocols, and the value of building respectful relationships with First Nations communities.
Following the awareness session, the team took part in an interactive Paint Your Own Boomerang workshop. Guided by Aboriginal educators, participants discovered the cultural significance of the boomerang and the meaning behind traditional Aboriginal symbols before creating their own artwork inspired by the stories and knowledge shared throughout the session.
The experience provided more than just a creative activity—it offered a space for reflection, learning, conversation, and connection. Employees embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm, demonstrating Lightspeed’s commitment to creating an inclusive workplace that values cultural understanding and reconciliation.
Aboriginal Incursions Pty Ltd extends its sincere thanks to the Lightspeed team for welcoming this cultural experience with openness, respect, and genuine curiosity. Partnerships like these help strengthen understanding, celebrate the richness of First Nations cultures, and contribute to a more inclusive future.
By investing in meaningful cultural learning during NAIDOC Week, Lightspeed continues to support the recognition, celebration, and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, ensuring that the spirit of reconciliation extends well beyond a single week of celebration.
