Aboriginal Incursions Pty Ltd was honoured to deliver a live Torres Strait Islander performance at the ABSEC 2026 NSW Aboriginal Child and Family Conference in Port Macquarie, bringing traditional song, dance and music of the Torres Strait Islands to delegates from across New South Wales.
As Torres Strait Islander performers, our role was to share culture the way it has always been shared – through movement, rhythm, language and story – giving delegates a live cultural experience rather than a presentation about one.
Traditional Song, Dance and Storytelling from the Torres Strait
The Torres Strait Islands are home to diverse communities, languages, dance styles and cultural practices, and our performance drew on that living tradition.
Through traditional dance, song, drumming and storytelling passed down through generations, delegates were invited to pause, listen and experience Torres Strait Islander culture as a continuing, evolving and thriving culture.
Live performance connects people in a way few conference sessions can. It shifts the energy in a room, opens conversations and leaves delegates with something they remember long after the event has finished.
