Workshop FAQ's
How do I book Burrul Bawurra Dreaming?
Complete our Booking Enquiry form here, in which we request up to 3 of your preferred dates for the workshop and our office will respond with further details and options for your event.
What type of areas do you need?
Areas that work best are, a field, an oval or something of similar for the Boomerang throwing, schools hall for the Aboriginal song and dance workshop, under COLA works best for Aboriginal art on canvas activity, the schools Library could be for the artefacts, weaponry, bush survival and history or even the didgeridoo and storytelling workshop, double classrooms work well also and especially for the Torres Strait Island workshop as sometimes this requires a projector.
What if it rains?
Once you book, our office will prepare you with a checklist and one requirement is the wet weather plan to prepare you in case of a rainy day.
Are photos and filming allowed?
Yes the school is welcome to take as many photos and film on the day for use of the schools memorabilia and folio only.
How much notice do you need in order to book?
The more notice you give us the better, however, we are able to service last minute bookings! Best approach is to call on 0403 313 829 if it’s a short turnaround request.
Can we choose the rotational activities?
For first time school bookings we like to offer our standard rotational activities which is, 1. Artefacts, weaponry bush survival and history, 2. Aboriginal art on canvas, 3. Aboriginal song and dance, 4. Boomerang throwing (Torres Strait Island for schools with no oval or limited spaces, for example mainly city schools).
Can the ATSI students be of extra assistance on the day?
Yes of course we encourage the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island students to be our helpers and our special guests for the day.
Do we need to prepare the Risk Assessment and Timetable?
Once our office emails your formal booking, included is a risk assessment and an example timetable on how the day will run based on another school similar size like yours. We ask that you use the timetable emailed to you as a guideline and not to copy it as all schools have different bell times and we will ask when drawing up your timetable to try to keep the bell times as close to your normal running day as possible.
Do you require the school to provide any equipment for the day?
We require the school to provide, 5 trestle tables, and place them all together creating a very large table, this is to support the canvas for the Aboriginal art activity, 30 cones or witch hats for the boomerang throwing activity, the schools PA or sound equipment for the 2 concerts morning and farewell including a mic, preferably with the stand.
