Wandabaa – Spirit Art on Canvas

Over the past 3 years, we have engaged with Aboriginal Incursions which is truly unforgettable cultural incursions that offer a rich and engaging insight into Aboriginal culture, traditions, and connection to land. The events are both educational and exciting, filled with hands-on activities such as Boomerang throwing, creating a collaborative Aboriginal artwork, learning traditional dances and songs, and listening to stories and teachings about tools used for survival and hunting. Most importantly, there is a powerful message of unity, respect, and the importance of learning about and honouring Aboriginal people, their culture, and their land. The children and staff find the experiences enriching and meaningful and are keen to share what they have learnt with their families and friends.

Welcoming First Nations Education each year to celebrate NAIDOC at Ashfield Public School is like having the relatives over – we are all one big family! The team of educators is professional, friendly and knows how to motivate our students, with a wonderful and exciting day of art, dance and learning about Aboriginal cultures and histories.

First Nations Education has consistently delivered engaging workshops to our school, teaching our students about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through a variety of activities. Each year, feedback from students and teachers is overwhelmingly positive. Connie is very helpful and responsive throughout the organisation process.
